In which city of Punjab will Italy establish a visa centre?

Good news for the people of Punjab, especially South Punjab as Italy will establish an Italian visa centre in Multan to facilitate workers by providing NOC issuance and other related services.

Italy is also planning to recruit a workforce from Pakistan and aims to issue approximately 10,000 visas in the next phase.

Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, made this announcement during a meeting with Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who hosted a dinner in her honour at Gilani House. The Italian delegation attended the dinner included Ambassador Marilina Armellin, Mr Domenico Polloni and First Secretary Mr Augusto Palmieri.

During the meeting, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani appreciated Italy’s support in restoring Multan’s historical heritage. He highlighted that Italian assistance played a key role in rehabilitating several of the city’s historic gates, which reflect Multan’s ancient civilisation and cultural identity. He further noted that the historical ties between Multan and Rome strengthen Pakistan-Italy relations.

Ambassador Armellin confirmed that an Italian visa centre will soon be established in Multan to facilitate workers by providing NOC issuance and other related services, bringing significant benefits to the people of South Punjab.

Participants emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral ties, safeguarding cultural heritage, boosting economic cooperation, and expanding workforce exchange between Pakistan and Italy.

Currently, Punjab citizens, especially students, are facing growing difficulties due to the limited availability of foreign visa centres across the province. Most visa centres are located in major cities such as Lahore, forcing residents from smaller towns and rural areas to travel long distances to submit their applications.

Temporary delays and other challenges in the visa process are adding to the problems, causing frustration among applicants. These obstacles are resulting in both financial and administrative hardships for residents seeking to travel abroad. Now opening of the Italian visa centre in Multan would definitely benefit local community.
