UAE urges Pakistan to reconsider boycott of Pak vs Ind match

Pak vs Ind

Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider its decision not to play Pak vs Ind match, which was set for February 15th.

According to reports, the ECB has recommended deciding in the best interest of cricket.

Earlier, Sri Lanka had also appealed to Pakistan to reconsider its boycott.

Sri Lanka Cricket formally wrote a letter to the PCB, pointing out that canceling the high-profile match scheduled on 15th February in Colombo between the two traditional rivals would cause significant financial losses for Sri Lanka Cricket.

Sri Lanka Cricket’s statement urged the PCB to consider the exceptional circumstances, the long-standing relationship between the two boards, and the broader interests of cricket.

ICC, BCB arrive in Lahore

On Sunday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam arrived in Lahore to discuss the boycott.

Earlier, Pakistan gave its cricket team the nod to participate in the World Cup, but said the Green Shirts would not play their match with arch-rivals India, scheduled to be held in Colombo.

According to some reports, the primary reason for boycotting the match with India was the ICC’s “biased decision” towards Bangladesh.

The development came after ICC announced that Scotland would replace Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after the BCB refused to participate in the tournament per the published match schedule.
