IND VS ENG semi final T20 World Cup 2026: England win toss

England won the toss and chose to field first against India in the second semi final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Historically, India and England have played 29 T20I matches against each other. India has won 17 times, and England has won 12 times.

India beats England

England scored 246/7 in 20 overs despite a century by Jacob Bethell chasing a target of 254 runs.

Phil Salt was dismissed for 5 and captain Harry Brook for 7 within the first five overs. The team was 38/2 then.

Jacob Bethell came in at number four and added 26 runs with Jos Buttler for the third wicket.

Buttler scored 25 off 17 balls before he was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy on the last ball of the powerplay.

England lost another wicket in the eighth over when Axar Patel dismissed Tom Banton for 17. England were 95/4 at that point.

Bethell then shared a 77 run partnership for the fifth wicket with Will Jacks. The stand came from 39 balls before Jacks was dismissed in the 14th over. Jacks scored 35 off 20 balls with four fours and two sixes.

Bethell later added 50 runs with Sam Curran for the sixth wicket. Curran scored 18 off 14 balls before he was dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the 19th over.

Bethell was run out on the first ball of the final over after scoring 105 off 48 balls with eight fours and seven sixes.

India gives huge run target

Sanju Samson scored a quick 89 off 42 balls as India made a massive total of 253/7 against England in the second semi final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 9 by Will Jacks in the second over with the score at 20.

The early wicket did not stop India. Ishan Kishan and Samson added 97 runs for the second wicket off 44 balls. Kishan was dismissed by Adil Rashid after scoring 39 off 18 balls.

Samson then put together a 43-run partnership with all rounder Shivam Dube before being dismissed by Jacks in the 14th over. Samson hit seven sixes and eight fours in his innings.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav was out stumped for 11 off six balls by Rashid in the next over.

At 190/4 in 15.4 overs, Dube joined Hardik Pandya. They added 32 runs for the fifth wicket before Dube was run out after a direct hit from Brook. Dube scored 43 off 25 balls with four sixes and one four.

Pandya and Tilak Varma finished the innings strongly with scores of 27 and 21, sharing a 24 run partnership.

For England, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid took two wickets each. Jofra Archer took one wicket.
