Former England cricketer Moeen Ali has suggested bold changes to Pakistan’s lineup ahead of their high-stakes World Cup clash against India, recommending opener Fakhar Zaman be replaced with star batsman Babar Azam in the playing XI.
Speaking on a podcast, Moeen said Pakistan may need to take calculated risks to counter a strong Indian side.
He advised the team management to consider Fakhar Zaman in place of Babar, emphasising the left-hander’s aggressive approach at the top of the order.
Moeen also warned Pakistan to be particularly cautious of India’s dynamic batter Suryakumar Yadav, noting that he has the ability to shift momentum at any stage of the match. ‘Suryakumar is the kind of player who can change the course of the game within a few overs,” he said.
Highlighting India’s bowling strength, Moeen described fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and spinner Kuldeep Yadav as major threats for Pakistan’s batting lineup. He added that conditions at R. Premadasa Stadium traditionally favour spin bowlers, which could further strengthen India’s position.
Looking at Pakistan’s combination, Moeen suggested that, along with Fakhar Zaman, Khawaja Nafee,s and pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi should be included in the final XI to strengthen both the batting and bowling departments.
With the Pakistan-India encounter carrying enormous significance in the World Cup, team selection is expected to be closely watched, and changes in the lineup could play a decisive role in the outcome of the contest.
The stage is set for one of cricket’s most anticipated rivalries as Pakistan take on India in the ICC T20 World Cup at the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium on Sunday. With emotions running high and fans eagerly awaiting the blockbuster encounter, both teams are gearing up for what promises to be a battle of nerves.
The atmosphere in Colombo has reached a fever pitch as supporters from both sides prepare to witness another chapter in the storied Pakistan-India rivalry. The high-stakes clash has not only captured global attention but has also prompted intense deliberations within the Pakistan camp.
Sources suggest that Pakistan’s team management has been engaged in serious discussions over the composition of the playing XI for the crucial fixture. With the pressure mounting and expectations soaring, two changes are reportedly on the cards as the think tank looks to field the most balanced and competitive combination against their traditional rivals.
