Indian political leaders, journalists, and thinkers mocked India and criticised that India is a puppet of the United States (US). Several social media users mocked the Modi government and said that the world’s biggest democratic country, India, is just a puppet of the US.
According to several media reports, the US gave permission to India to buy fuel for 30 days from Russia due to the Iran-Israel war.
Several progressive voices in India said that the Modi government is just a compromised government and a puppet of the US, and they can’t even buy fuel independently.
An Indian political leader and member of the Lok Sabha wrote mockingly on X, “India – Mother of Democracy. US gives permission to India to buy oil for 30 days. Our Atmanirbhar Bharat! Our Independent foreign policy.”
Is India an American colony?
Several social media users said that India is more like an American colony. An Indian prominent journalist wrote on X, “The White House has allowed India 30 days to keep buying Russian oil before switching to American crude. We now sound like an American colony, and our newschannels will spin it to give it a Vishwaguru appearance.”

Another social media user asked the Modi government why India needs permission from another country to secure its own energy needs. The user wrote on X, “When the United States decides to allow India to purchase Russian oil for just 30 days, it raises a fundamental question.
Why should India need another country’s approval to secure its own energy needs? Equally troubling is the sinking of the unarmed Iranian warship IRIS Dena by the United States soon after it participated in the International Fleet Review 2026 naval exercise hosted by India in Visakhapatnam.
When a ship that came to India as part of a multinational exercise meets such a fate, India cannot appear silent or passive.
The Union BJP Government looks totally compromised on India’s long-standing tradition of strategic autonomy and an independent foreign policy. India’s dignity in the international arena needs to be protected, and the nation’s sovereignty and interests need to be defended.”
