Indian influencer deletes viral David Miller video after receiving rape threats

An Indian social media influencer has removed a video featuring South African cricketer David Miller after receiving rape threats and body shaming comments during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The social media influencer removed the light hearted video featuring South African cricketer David Miller after receiving rape threats.

RJ Princy Parikh shared that she had to delete her viral reel during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 because of violent and disturbing messages.

She spoke about the incident through a series of Instagram stories posted on February 24.

The video was recorded after South Africa’s Super 8 match against India. In the reel, Parikh was seen slow clapping while walking around Miller in a playful manner to celebrate South Africa’s win.

The video was captioned, “I thought we were frineds David?”

However, the reaction on social media quickly turned hostile. Parikh said she removed the reel because she could not handle the graphic rape threats and abusive comments about her body.

She wrote that the situation made her feel like she wanted to disappear.

During the match at Narendra Modi Stadium, Miller delivered a strong performance, which helped secure a dominant 76 run victory for South Africa.

This win handed India their first loss of the tournament.

Online abuse, rape threats

While some viewers saw the reel as harmless cricket banter, others began targeting her online.

The abuse continued through public comments and private messages. Parikh decided to delete the video to protect her mental health.

She also announced that she plans to file a police complaint against those responsible.

She said she would share the usernames and messages of the people involved so others could see the kind of behaviour she faced.

The incident highlights the darker side of online fan culture during major sports events.

While social media allows fans and creators to celebrate special moments, it can also expose users to serious harassment. This especially includes women.

Netizens react

Social media users have criticised this behaviour, calling it a shameful act. One said, “India’s youth is going in the wrong direction.”
