Before, on Sunday, the Indian Ministry of Defence announced the launch of the tri-services exercise ‘Ex Trishul’, to be conducted in close coordination with the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.
Observers note that the exercise’s proximity to the border is unusual.
The drill is designed to highlight India’s growing focus on joint operations, Atmanirbharta (self-reliance), and innovation in military strategy, as per the Indian media.
Troops from India’s Southern Command will take part in the exercise, testing joint operations across diverse and challenging terrains, including creek and desert areas. As well as amphibious manoeuvres off the Saurashtra coast, according to the Ministry, reports Indian media.
Indian media reports that the large-scale exercise will also emphasise the use of ‘indigenous defence systems’ and refine tactics, techniques, and procedures to respond to emerging threats and the changing dynamics of modern warfare.
