The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled India’s international home season schedule, with the Men in Blue set to host West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Australia.
21 matches to be played across 17 venues
A total of 21 international matches will be played across 17 venues nationwide, promising an action-packed season for cricket fans.
India will kick off the home season against the West Indies, with a series comprising 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is, scheduled to run from September 27 to October 17.
The series against Sri Lanka, consisting of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is, will take place from December 13 to December 27. The Zimbabwe team will play 3 ODIs on January 3, 6, and 9.
Border–Gavaskar Trophy
Finally, Australia will tour India for the Border–Gavaskar Trophy, which will include 5 Test matches scheduled from January 21 to March 3 next year.
BCB hopeful of hosting India for a home series
On the other hand, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful of hosting India for a home series after its scheduled tour of Cricket Ireland was postponed.
According to an international cricket website, the BCB has postponed its tour of Ireland, which was originally scheduled for September.
Cricket Ireland informed the BCB that rescheduling the series was not possible within the current calendar, after which both boards mutually agreed to cancel the tour in that window.
The BCB is now awaiting a response from the International Cricket Council regarding the implications of not playing the scheduled matches in India.
Meanwhile, the BCB is exploring the possibility of hosting the Indian national cricket team during the September window. India was initially scheduled to tour Bangladesh last year, but the series was postponed.
Earlier this year, the Bangladesh Cricket Board had announced the schedule for India’s tour, according to which India was expected to arrive on August 28 to play 3 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 3 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
