Indonesian defence minister praises Pakistan Air Force

A military delegation led by Minister of Defence of Indonesia Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with Pakistan’s Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in the federal capital on Monday.

The meeting between the Indonesian Defence Minister and Air Chief Marshal restated the long-standing and friendly ties between both countries. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen two-way Air Force collaboration, particularly in skills development, training and technology cooperation.

The Air Chief Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu updated the Indonesian defence delegation on PAF’s modernisation efforts, including infrastructure development, improved training and introduction of specialised skills to strengthen preparedness for multi-domain operations.

The Indonesian Defence Minister praised PAF’s expertise, war readiness and domestic capability successes under the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, and showed eagerness to enhance joint efforts in training, aviation and aerospace sectors.

However, Pakistani journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq wrote on X today, “Pakistan and Indonesia are closing in on a major defence deal involving JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and combat drones. Talks are at an advanced stage as Islamabad pushes to expand its defence exports regionally.”

China has confirmed that its J-10CE fighter jet recorded its first combat success during the brief India-Pakistan military clash in May 2025, Chinese state news agency Xinhua reported on Monday.

During the four-day conflict between Pakistan and India, both countries launched missiles, fighter jets and drones at each other. At the same time, both nuclear states attacked each other with long-range weapons.
According to the multiple media reports, 70 people died on both sides during the conflict. 

Pakistan claimed success in the four-day war between Pakistan and India. Several international media outlets confirmed that Pakistan shot down six Indian jets, including a French-made Rafale. India accepted its loss, but the numbers are not specified.
