The Federal Government of Pakistan has announced the launch of “Indus AI Week 2026” which is being treated as a flagship national initiative on artificial intelligence and will take place from February 9 to 15, 2026.
The initiative was announced by the Federal Minister for the Information Technology and telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
The government says this event will unite policy makers, technology companies and universities, start-ups, students and the public in Islamabad and throughout Pakistan.
Organised by the Ministry of IT and telecommunication, through Public-Private Partnership, Indus AI Week is envisaged as an open and inclusive national and one-week long AI learning, exploring, and participating forum.
The program will start with the Indus AI Summit in the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad, on 9 February. This will then be followed by an Innovation, Learning and Engagement Arena in the Islamabad Sports Complex on 9 and 10 February.
Throughout the week, various universities, companies and public bodies across Pakistan will be hosting various co-branded events under the banner of Indus AI Week.
The programme will include a national technology showcase, innovation and startups spot, which will help founders and investors connect; skills and certification training for students and professionals, a gaming/experiential AI arena, as well as interactive public engagement activities.
Together, these are meant to demystify artificial intelligence, increase access to artificial intelligence, and turn artificial intelligence conversations into practical learning, adoption and collaboration throughout society.
Speaking on the occasion of the announcement, Federal Minister for Development, Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative builds on the National AI Policy of Pakistan announced last year which provided the foundation for responsible and inclusive AI development in the country.
“Indus AI Week signifies our resolve to not only speak, but act,” she said, adding that the program has the goal of positioning Pakistan to be a “credible participant in the global AI ecosystem”.
Indus AI Week 2026 marks Pakistan’s willingness towards adopting artificial intelligence as a backbone of national development and global partnership.
