Injured Neymar not traveling with Brazil team for Haiti match

Popular Brazil player Neymar will no longer be travelling with the squad for their FIFA World Cup match against Haiti.

According to a report by Reuters, he is still recovering from a calf injury.

The football group added, “He will remain in New Jersey to make the most of the final stage of his recovery, making use of the excellent facilities at The Ridge hotel and the Columbia Park training centre.”

The Brazil squad has been concerned about his return to the field.

Neymar has been limited to carry out his training indoors at the team’s centre along with fitness coaches and physiotherapists.

The development comes after the Brazil forward injured his right calf during the Santos vs Coritiba match in May.

Neymar undergoes further tests amid concerns

Neymar had visited a clinic for more medical examinations amid growing concerns over his injury.

It is important to note that the 34 year old player has been participating in his fourth FIFA World Cup campaign.

Earlier, Brazil’s medical staff expressed hope over his timely recovery for the knockout stages of the international tournament.

The team’s fate hangs in the balance after Brazil secured a disappointing draw against Morocco in their World Cup opener on Saturday.

Brazil team doctor, Rodrigo Zugaib had previously shared that Neymar would be able to join the team’s training camp in a fully fit condition.

However, this is not the first time the Brazil player suffered an injury.

In October 2023, he went through a serious injury to his knee while playing against Uruguay. He has been struggling with fitness issues since then.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti also shared that Neymar’s addition to Brazil’s national team was based on his experience not only recent performances.
