The Karachi Board of Intermediate Education has detected several fake social media pages operating under its name, according to media reports on Friday.
Officials in Karachi identified multiple fraudulent pages and groups sharing academic-related content, raising concerns about misinformation affecting students.
The board has formally approached the NCCIA, requesting action against the fake accounts and urging authorities to block them without delay.
In its communication, the board also called for strict action against social media platforms that are misleading students by spreading false educational information.
According to the details, at least 24 fake pages on Facebook, eight accounts on Instagram, and one fraudulent WhatsApp account are currently active.
Officials warned that the circulation of incorrect academic information through these fake accounts poses a serious risk to students.
An additional director confirmed that action has been initiated following the board’s request, while authorities are also examining whether these platforms are linked to any potential paper leak activities.
Lifetime ban likely for students found cheating
In another development It has been decided by the Sindh government that strict action will be taken against the examination staff and the students who are involved in cheating.
In Karachi the ongoing matriculation exams have been marred with allegations of widespread cheating, bribery and paper leaks. It has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the examination system.
Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Sindh Education Minister and Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu said in a joint statement that a zero-tolerance policy will be followed against cheating in board exams.
It was stated by them that any student who is found cheating will have to face severe consequences.
The students found cheating will be expelled immediately from the examination halls and their results will be cancelled.
They will also be barred from appearing in any current or future board examinations.
The ministers further gave a warning that any student who is found with cheating material or a phone will be disqualified from the exams on the spot.
Strict action will also be taken against the administration staff who are involved in cheating. Any internal or external examiner or administrative official found to facilitate the process of cheating will face action by the department and could be dismissed from the service.
