The Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend 3G and 4G mobile data services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from 12:00 am tonight until further orders, according to an official notification.
The directive instructs the PTA to implement the suspension and coordinate with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Chief Commissioner ICT, and RPO Rawalpindi for necessary actions.
The circular, signed by Syed Hammad Hassan, Section Officer (Security-I) at the Interior Ministry, cited security concerns as the reason behind the move, though no official explanation for the timing or duration of the service disruption has been made public.
The decision affects millions of mobile users in the federal capital region, as mobile data services are crucial for communication, business, and transport operations.
The measure is expected to remain in place until a new directive is issued by the ministry.
