Apple tipped to reserve major updates for iPhone 18 Pro, foldables

iPhone 18 Pro Max major updates

Apple’s next smartphone lineup is beginning to take shape, but not all of its new models are expected to bring big changes.

Recent leaks suggest that the spotlight may remain on premium devices such as the iPhone 18 Pro and the long-rumoured foldable iPhone, while the standard iPhone 18 could look and feel very familiar.

According to a tipster, the base iPhone 18 is likely to keep much of its current design, with only small adjustments to its size and structure. This points to Apple maintaining a consistent look for its entry-level flagship, rather than introducing a major redesign. The display is also expected to remain around 6.3 inches, similar to the current model.

There has been some confusion around whether Apple will shrink the Dynamic Island across the lineup. Earlier reports hinted that all models might receive a smaller version, but newer claims suggest this upgrade could be limited to the Pro variants. If true, the standard iPhone 18 may not see noticeable visual changes compared to its predecessor.

The iPhone Air 2 is also drawing mixed signals from industry watchers. Some reports indicate that Apple could postpone its release until 2027 to allow for more significant improvements. Others believe it may still arrive sooner, possibly this year, though without major design updates.

Analysts are divided on whether the Air 2 will include a second rear camera or stick with a simpler setup. The lack of clarity suggests Apple is still deciding how far to push the device in terms of features and pricing.

Despite the uncertainty, one common expectation is that Apple could unveil multiple models at the same time. This may include the iPhone 18 lineup, the Air 2, and the high-end Pro versions, alongside the foldable iPhone.

The foldable model appears to be moving forward, with reports indicating that it has entered early manufacturing stages at Foxconn. However, the project is said to be facing technical hurdles, which could slow down production and delay its arrival if issues are not resolved in time.

With so many leaks pointing in different directions, Apple’s final plans remain unclear. What seems certain, however, is that the company is preparing a busy product cycle, with a strong focus on premium devices and cautious updates for its standard models.
