iPhone Air 2 expected this year as leaks reveal Apple’s plans

iPhone Air 2 launch

Apple’s next generation of iPhones is slowly coming into focus, with new leaks shedding light on two expected models, the iPhone 18 and the iPhone Air 2. While most of the attention has centred on the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and the rumoured iPhone Fold, details about the standard lineup have been limited until now.

According to recent reports citing industry leaks, Apple is preparing modest updates rather than major design changes for its non-Pro devices. The information, shared by a well-known tipster on Chinese social platform Weibo, suggests that Apple’s base iPhone 18 will look very similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 17, with only slight adjustments to its size.

The display is expected to remain around 6.3 inches, keeping the familiar form factor that users are already used to. If accurate, this would mean Apple is sticking with a cautious approach, focusing more on internal improvements than visible changes. This also aligns with past patterns, where the company has often made small tweaks that are barely noticeable at first glance, though they can sometimes affect accessory compatibility.

There has also been some debate around Apple’s Dynamic Island feature. Earlier claims suggested that all iPhone 18 models would feature a smaller version of the interface. However, the latest leaks indicate that this change may be limited to the Pro models, leaving the standard iPhone 18 unchanged in that area.

Attention has also turned to the iPhone Air 2, which has been the subject of conflicting reports in recent months. Some industry sources had suggested that the device could be delayed until 2027, with the extra time used to introduce a second rear camera. However, other reports have pushed back on that idea.

A recent post from a supply chain leaker claims that Apple is still planning to release the iPhone Air 2 as part of its next major launch cycle. The device is expected to arrive alongside other upcoming models, with the tipster describing it as a routine update rather than a major overhaul.

If this proves accurate, the iPhone Air 2 may focus mainly on internal upgrades, such as a newer chip, instead of changes to its design or camera system. This would also suggest that Apple is sticking to its usual release rhythm, bringing multiple new iPhones to market at the same time.

While Apple has not confirmed any of these details, the leaks offer an early look at what could be a familiar but refined line-up, with the company continuing its mix of incremental upgrades and selective innovation.
