Iran deal could be reached within days as diplomacy shows progress: Marco Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said there is a possibility that Iran could agree to a deal aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East, with progress potentially emerging within days.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Rubio said negotiations were moving forward and suggested that an announcement could come soon.

“There is a chance that, whether it’s later today, tomorrow, in a couple of days, we may have something to say,” Rubio said, adding that he was hopeful for “good news.”

His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Iran, as international mediators push to prevent further escalation in the region. Rubio did not provide details of the discussions but indicated that talks remained active and fluid.

The US administration has been seeking a diplomatic resolution to tensions with Iran, with officials suggesting that multiple options remain on the table if negotiations fail. Rubio’s comments signal cautious optimism in Washington.

It is worth mentioning here that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had earlier stated that some progress has been made in the ongoing negotiations with Iran, but there is still a great deal of work required to reach a final agreement.

Speaking to the media after the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Sweden, Rubio said that the United States is proceeding cautiously in its talks with Iran. He noted that while progress has been achieved, the process has not yet reached its conclusion.

The Secretary of State added that President Donald Trump wants an effective and acceptable agreement, but Washington’s fundamental position remains that Iran must not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
