Iran-Israel war: Whose fighter jet shot down?

Iranian jet down

There is a war going on between Iran and Israel. In the first-ever dogfight between Iran and Israel, an Israeli F-35 downed an Iranian YAK-130 jet, an international media outlet confirmed on Wednesday.

The Iranian YAK-130 jet is Russian-made, and its production started in 1990.

The Russian-made YAK-130 is usually used to train the pilots of the more advanced Russian SU-57. This aircraft can also be used as a war jet.

The YAK-130 fighter jet is an advanced fighter jet compared to Israel’s F4 and F5 fighter jets. According to multiple media reports, YAK-130 fighter jets can create problems for Israeli jets and American drones. These jets are perfect for close-range “stand-in” attacks.

Earlier, the reports also confirmed that an American fighter jet was shot down by an Iranian fighter in Kuwait. After the attack on the American jet, the pilot successfully ejected. Kuwaiti Armed Forces arrested the American pilot.

It is not still clear if the pilot has been released or not.

Israel shot down an Iranian fighter jet for the first time in almost 40 years. Earlier, in 1985, Israel shot down an aircraft during an aerial engagement over Lebanon.

The Israeli F-35 Adir carried out its first manned combat kill. At the same time, British Royal Air Force (RAF) F-35B jets achieved their first confirmed combat kill by shooting down an Iranian drone over Jordan.

The UK said this was the first time an RAF F-35 destroyed a target during operations.

The RAF received its first F-35 jets in 2012. The stealth fighter aircraft became fully ready for initial operations in 2018.
