Iran, Qatar Concerned Over Pak-Afghan Tensions

Iran and Qatar have expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions between the neighbouring Pakistan and Afghanistan.

As per details, both urged regional countries to play a constructive role in preserving peace and stability.

The development came during a telephone conversation between Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani.

“The foreign ministers of Iran and Qatar, while expressing concern over tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, stressed the importance of the continued good offices of regional countries to preserve peace and stability in the region,” read a statement issued by Iran’s foreign ministry.

The statement further said that Araghchi and Qatar’s Thani also discussed and exchanged views on bilateral ties and regional developments.

The two sides emphasised the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest, it added.

They also discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the recent US draft resolution submitted to the UN Security Council, underscoring the need to continue consultations to prevent violations of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Fitna al Khawarij who carried out heinous attack on the Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were all identified as Afghan nationals.

According to security sources, the operation was orchestrated from Afghan soil, with orders coming directly from TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud.

Sources revealed that during the entire attack, the Khawarij followed live directives conveyed from handlers across the border.

Moreover, the mastermind behind the Wana college attack was Afghan-based TTP operative Zahid. TTP leadership directed the group to claim the attack under the name “Jaish al Hind” to divert direct blame from the Khawarij.

In footage recorded during the attack, the Khawarij were heard repeatedly saying “Jaish al Hind” while communicating in Urdu, sources revealed.

Sources disclosed that Afghan Taliban have been pressuring Fitna al Khawarij not to operate under their actual TTP name.

The Khawarij were armed with modern equipment, including American-manufactured weapons, all sourced from Afghanistan and their primary aim was to create instability and security concerns across Pakistan, an agenda aligned with Indian intelligence agency RAW, sources revealed.
