'Iran's new regime President has asked for a ceasefire,' claims Trump

President of the United States (US) Donald Trump has said that Iran’s “new regime president” has asked the US for a ceasefire, on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump did not name the Iranian official.

However, he described the individual as “much less radicalised and far more intelligent than his predecessors.”

Trump added that the US would consider the request once the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and clear.

He also said that until then, the US would continue heavy military action against Iran.

Trump says he is strongly considering pulling out of NATO

Separately, Trump said he is strongly considering pulling the United States out of NATO.

According to the Telegraph newspaper of Britain, the move comes after other member countries did not support his war on Iran.

Trump is expected to address the nation at 9 PM ET to provide an update on the conflict.

Trump also stated that the US is no longer concerned about Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

He said it is now the responsibility of countries that depend on the route for energy supplies to keep it open.

Speaking at the No Kings protests, US Senator Bernie Sanders said that Trump is putting the whole world into crisis.

He said, “Today our message is ‘No More Kings.’ We do not want a dictatorship in our country. One person has taken the country’s laws into his own hands.”

Bernie Sanders further said that no one in American history has ever misused power so much.

He further stated that the American people were lied to about the Iraq war, and today they are being lied to about the war against Iran. The war against Iran was started by the Israeli Prime Minister, he added.

Sanders said that by starting an unjustified war against a sovereign country. He added that international laws are being violated.
