Deleted tweet linked to security, Iran talks remain on track

A recently deleted tweet by Iran’s ambassador has been interpreted as a precautionary move related to security, with no change in diplomatic plans for upcoming negotiations.

Prominent journalist Anas Mallick has said that a now-deleted tweet by the Iranian Ambassador appears to be related to security considerations, dismissing speculation about any disruption to ongoing diplomatic efforts.

In a post on X, Mallick stated that, in his understanding, the deletion was “purely to do with security reasons,” adding that the Iranian delegation is expected to arrive as per schedule.

He further noted that planned talks between the United States and Iran will proceed as intended, signalling continuity in diplomatic engagement despite online speculation.

Analysts suggest that social media activity, including deleted posts, should be viewed cautiously in sensitive diplomatic contexts where security considerations often take precedence.

It is worth mentioning that a high-level delegation from the United States and Iran is set to arrive in Islamabad today for key diplomatic engagements, aimed at facilitating dialogue between the two sides.

According to media reports, US Vice President J. D. Vance will land in Islamabad along with senior officials, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. A 23-member advance team, comprising security experts and support staff, has already reached the federal capital to assist in preparations.

On the Iranian side, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are also expected to arrive in Islamabad later tonight.

Earlier, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that US President Donald Trump had dispatched a negotiation team to Pakistan for talks with Iran. The discussions are scheduled to take place in Islamabad on Saturday morning.
