Iran has warned that it will respond with “full force” to any act of aggression against the country or its critical infrastructure, following fresh threats by US President Donald Trump.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would not leave any attack on its territory unanswered. In a post on X, he said any aggression against Iran or its infrastructure would receive an “immediate, strong and decisive response”.
Araghchi also warned that any party assisting such an attack would be regarded as a legitimate target. He said Iran reserved the right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and national security.
The warning came after President Trump renewed his hardline rhetoric against Iran by reposting a statement he had issued three days earlier on social media. According to reports, Trump had previously directed the US Central Command (CENTCOM) to prepare for action against Iran.
In his latest remarks, Trump said Iran would “pay a heavy price” for its actions, adding that the country was “being destroyed” and that military strikes would continue.
Separately, an Iranian military official told the Tasnim news agency that if the United States targeted Iran’s bridges, power plants or other key infrastructure, Tehran would retaliate by striking American interests, bridges and energy facilities across the region.
The exchange of warnings has heightened concerns over further escalation between Iran and the United States, with analysts cautioning that the increasingly hostile rhetoric could further destabilise security across the Middle East.
