Iran, has welcomed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for ending the ongoing war started after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
In a statement, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director General for South Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran views Pakistan’s role positively, saying that such initiatives align with Iran’s legitimate rights and interests.
He further said that diplomatic and regional approaches are crucial for resolving tensions, adding that these efforts can help strengthen peace, reduce hostilities, and restore stability in the region.
Iranian President praises Pakistan’s peace efforts in call with PM Shehbaz
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, earlier today.
During their detailed conversation, that lasted over one hour, the two leaders held extensive discussions regarding the ongoing hostilities in the region and peace efforts.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the continued Israeli attacks on Iran, including the latest attacks on civilian infrastructure yesterday.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity and support for the brave people of Iran, in these challenging times. He also offered condolences on the loss of over 1900 precious lives and prayed for recovery of the injured and displaced.
The Prime Minister apprised the Iranian President of the diplomatic outreach efforts currently being undertaken by him, the Deputy Prime Minister as well as Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to engage the U.S., brotherly Gulf and Islamic countries, to create a conducive environment for peace talks.
He briefed the Iranian President on the strong endorsement of Pakistan’s peace initiative and expressed the hope that a viable path towards ending hostilities could be found collectively.
Key talks in Islamabad: Ishaq Dar says dialogue is only way forward
It is important to mention here that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, earlier confirmed that Iran and the US showed trust in Pakistan, and Pakistan will host talks between the US and Iran in the coming days.
Ishaq Dar said, “Pakistan will be honoured to host and facilitate meaningful talks between the sides in the coming days for comprehensive and lasting settlement of the ongoing conflict.”
Key talks in Islamabad were held as the foreign ministers of four countries met to discuss the evolving regional situation and push for peace amid rising tensions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar hosted his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt for the high-level meeting. The discussions focused on finding diplomatic solutions to ongoing conflicts, particularly the tensions between the United States and Iran.
