26 Bottled Water Brands Declared Unsafe: Is Yours on the List?

27 bottled water found unsafe to drink

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Council for Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has declared 26 bottled water brands unsafe to drink due to chemical or bacterial contamination.

Under government orders, PCRWR checks bottled and mineral water every quarter and makes the results public to protect consumers. For the third quarter of 2025 (July–September), the council collected 205 samples from 21 major cities.

After comparing the test results with the standards of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), PCRWR found that 26 brands did not meet safety requirements and were unfit for drinking.

PCRWR said many people have turned to bottled water because of poor drinking water quality in the country, but several companies are selling contaminated water.

Brands with Chemical Contamination

Excess Sodium: Pure Drinking Water, Premium Drinking Water, Eltsen, Purifa
Excess Arsenic: Natural Pure Life, Aqua Nest, Premium Safa Purified Water, Piyo Pani Bottled Drinking Water, Wolga
