Ishaq Dar visits Iranian Embassy

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, the Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday.

During his visit, Dar wrote a message in the condolence book opened after the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He expressed solidarity with Iran on behalf of the people of Pakistan and offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the Iranian nation.

The spokesperson said Dar assured that Pakistan stands with Iran during this time of grief.

Israeli media have claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei is the new supreme leader, who is the son of the late Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded to the claims, saying that the new supreme leader will be selected after the burial of martyred Ali Khamenei.

In Iran, the Supreme Leader is elected by the 88-member Assembly of Experts.

Arab media has also confirmed that Ayatollah Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been elected as Iran’s Supreme Leader.
