Hollywood celebrity accepts Islam, surprises fans

During a recent stay in Saudi Arabia, American actor Giancarlo Esposito, the star of one of the most critically acclaimed TV series Breaking Bad, has reportedly embraced Islam.

General Entertainment Authority Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh made the announcement and gave details of the actor’s spiritual journey during his work in the Kingdom.

Esposito recited the declaration of faith, known as the Shahada, which is a fundamental tenet of Islam, and which signals a person’s acceptance of the religion, Al-Sheikh said.

He also prayed with other team members of the film production team in a mosque during the production of a big project in Saudi Arabia.

The actor’s involvement in prayers with his film colleagues captivated fans from every corner of the globe in a video that went viral on social media.

One of Hollywood’s most revered actors, Esposito has been active for decades on both film and TV.

In addition to his iconic role in Breaking Bad, he has appeared in several successful shows including The Mandalorian, Better Call Saul and many others.

He has been internationally recognised and nominated for several awards.

The actor reportedly embraced Islam after staying and working in Saudi Arabia.

The actor made significant contacts with local Muslims and expressed his appreciation for the “community, kindness and hospitality” he experienced during his time in the Kingdom.

The actor is currently in Saudi Arabia to shoot for Seven Dogs which is said to be one of the biggest film sets in the Kingdom.

It is an indication of Saudi Arabia’s rising aspirations in the entertainment and film sector, which continues to draw international talent and develop its global film profile.
