Islamabad : At least 27 new dengue cases have been reported in the last 24 hours as dengue cases continue to rise in the federal capital, according to the Health Department.
At present, 64 patients are under treatment in different hospitals across Islamabad. Out of these, 20 dengue cases were reported from rural areas and seven from urban areas.
The district administration has directed field teams to closely monitor dengue hotspots and has speeded up the fogging drive in affected localities. Citizens have been urged to keep their surroundings clean and cooperate with the anti-dengue teams.
Health officials say that stagnant water after recent rains has increased mosquito breeding. Hundreds of dengue cases have been reported so far this season, while special dengue wards have been set up in hospitals.
A spokesperson for the district administration said all field teams have been instructed to keep strict surveillance and inspect every suspected site for dengue breeding.
He added that anti-dengue operations are being carried out jointly with the health department and local bodies to cover both residential and commercial zones.
