The Islamabad district administration has announced that from November 18, all vehicles travelling on the city’s highways will be required to have E-Tags (electronic stickers).

The stated policy outcome aims to strengthen security situation in Islamabad and improve overall traffic management in the federal capital as influx of vehicles substantially increased in last decade.

According to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Memon, the new policy is part of a larger plan to make Islamabad one of the safest and most organised cities in Pakistan.

In an official statement, the DC said:
“Important announcement: E-Tags for vehicles will be issued from November 18 at designated points in the federal capital. Every vehicle traveling on Islamabad’s highways — including those registered in other provinces — must have an M-Tag sticker. Citizens will be informed in advance about the designated issuance points.”

DC Memon explained that E-Tag stickers will be distributed only through official centers, and vehicle owners will need to bring their original registration documents when applying.

He also said that the administration will announce the specific locations soon so residents can get their tags easily and without confusion.

Authorities have urged all citizens to get their E-Tags before the deadline to avoid inconvenience once the rule takes effect.
