Rain starts in Islamabad bringing an end to prolonged dry spell

Islamabad: Rain has started in Islamabad and its surroundings on Tuesday afternoon, ending the long dry season and bringing a significant drop in temperature.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to medium intensity rain will continue in various areas till November 5, making the weather pleasant.

Intermittent rain was recorded in several areas including Murree, Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Bhara Kahu, and Tarnol.

Meteorologists say that the westerly wind has entered the upper reaches of the country, due to which more rain is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujrat, Sargodha and some districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next 24 hours.

After the rain, the temperature in the city dropped to 16 degrees Celsius, bringing the first winter chills. Citizens welcomed the change in weather, saying that the rain has increased the coolness and got rid of dust and dirt.

The Meteorological Department has said that the rain is likely to continue intermittently for the next 24 hours, which will lead to a reduction in air pollution and a decrease in the intensity of smog.
