The Islamabad administration has launched M-tag for motorcycles across the federal capital, as part of the ongoing vehicle tagging.
Key dates
- The second phase, covering motorcycles, will begin on February 20.
- Motorcycle owners can start obtaining M-Tags from 10 am on that date.
- Registration takes place at 13 designated points across the city.
How to Register
- Visit one of the 13 M-Tag installation points in Islamabad.
- Bring the required motorcycle documents along with your identity card (CNIC).
- The M-Tag will be issued and installed on the spot.
Is it compulsory for all motorcycles?
This requirement applies to all types of motorcycles, including:
- Regular bikes
- Bike taxis (bikiya)
- Heavy bikes
- Any other motorised two-wheelers

More than 600,000 vehicles have already received M-Tags so far. Separate registration continues for motorcycles as needed.
How to get an M-tag
The M-Tag registration process has been simplified. Motorists are required to bring only two documents for registration: the vehicle’s registration card or book and the CNIC of the owner.
According to officials, no additional paperwork or lengthy formalities are involved. The eligible applicants will be able receive their M-Tag on the spot.
