Authorities earlier decided to make all Ramzan bazaars in Islamabad cashless to facilitate digital payments and ease the shopping process for citizens.

Officials informed the meeting that a total of seven Ramzan bazaars will be set up across the federal capital, while three weekly markets will also be converted into Ramzan bazaars.

In addition to this, ensuring the supply of essential items at subsidised prices, extra Ramzan bazaars will be established along the Islamabad Expressway, as well as in Bara Kahu, Pakistan Town, and Tarnol.

The briefing further noted that Ramzan bazaars will feature cash-and-carry outlets along with stalls set up by various companies. Moreover, a “Chand Bazaar” will be organised during the last ten days of Ramzan ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The decision was taken during a review meeting on preparations for Ramzan. The meeting was chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The meeting focused on ensuring the smooth provision of essential commodities during the holy month.

During the session, Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed officials to ensure the availability of quality food items at officially notified rates throughout Ramzan.

He issued clear instructions that all Ramzan bazaars must operate on a cashless system to promote digital transactions.

The chief commissioner also emphasised that all construction and maintenance work at the designated sites should be completed before the start of Ramzan to prevent inconvenience to the public.

The initiative is expected to provide maximum relief to residents while encouraging the use of digital payment systems during the holy month.
