The recent developments about the expected march of different political parties towards Islamabad have raised serious concerns among the citizens of Islamabad, including whether the Islamabad M-2 motorway is closed to traffic today.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a long march towards the Red Zone area in Islamabad on September 27, while a ‘Super Long March’ has also been scheduled by the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership towards the capital on September 23 and 24.
According to media reports and fact-checking, the official authorities have not released any authentic notification so far regarding the closure of the M-2 motorway, which leads towards Islamabad.
The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has also not confirmed the closure of the motorway.
Many social media posts have gone viral claiming that all sorts of in and out routes of Islamabad have been closed and blocked by the administration.
All kinds of roads, motorways and other major areas are open for traffic, and the public is free to go anywhere.
The motorists must check the official platforms before leaving their houses, so that they can avoid any kind of misadventure.
Will schools be closed tomorrow in Islamabad
News has been circulating in the media that all schools, colleges and universities in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain closed for a while as part of security arrangements linked to several planned protest marches.
The posts also added that hotels, motels, and rest houses will also reportedly remain closed.
The viral posts also claimed that all kinds of bus stands, transport and goods terminals are expected to suspend operations.
Metro Bus and Green Electric Bus services are also likely to remain suspended during the period, potentially affecting daily commuters in Rawalpindi and the surrounding areas.
The authorities have rejected the claims circulating online, calling them fake, misleading and bogus.
Islamabad traffic update
There has been no traffic plan issued by the authorities in Islamabad, as all of the main routes are open for traffic and the public is facing no problems regarding it so far.
