Islamabad’s busy Park Road has been closed and the daily commuters and office goers are facing severe traffic jams and waiting in long queues for hours.

As per details, the Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a traffic diversion plan for motorists due to ongoing construction work at the Margalla Enclave underpass on Park Road.

Alternative routes

Under the traffic plan, vehicles travelling from Rawal Dam Chowk toward Taramari will be diverted via NIH Road. Traffic will pass through Mohra Noor before rejoining Park Road.

Similarly, commuters heading from Taramari toward Rawal Dam Chowk will be redirected through Chai Khana and the CDA Nursery, using two temporary roads alongside the iron grill to merge back onto Park Road.

To avoid delays and ease traffic pressure near the construction site, motorists have been advised to use alternate routes, including Lehtrar Road, Khanna Pul, and the Islamabad Expressway.

Alert for commuters

Authorities cautioned that Park Road is likely to remain heavily congested throughout the construction period. Citizens are urged to plan their travel and allocate an additional 20 to 30 minutes for their journeys.

Traffic police personnel will remain deployed in the area to ensure smooth traffic flow and assist commuters. For real-time updates or further guidance, citizens may contact the traffic helpline at 1915 or the emergency number 15.

Islamabad to get two new avenues to tackle traffic congestion

It is important to mention here that Islamabad’s traffic problems have risen in the recent past. To address the increasing traffic congestion in Islamabad, the federal capital is all set to get two new avenues.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to restart the long-delayed 10th Avenue project and expedite the construction of 11th Avenue.

The project was announced to handle an anticipated increase in vehicles once a new link road connecting Margalla Road to the M-1 Motorway is completed.
