Islamabad: 7 petrol pumps sealed for not supplying fuel to customers

The district administration has closed 7 petrol pumps in Islamabad following reports that some of these stations denied fuel supply to citizens.

According to a report released by the administration, there are 145 petrol stations operating throughout the city, with over 2.59 million litres of petrol and 1.58 million litres of diesel still in stock despite the high demand.

This report was published after numerous vehicles lined up at petrol pumps in various parts of Islamabad.

Officials indicated that inspection teams were deployed to assess fuel stations across the city to verify supply levels and ensure that citizens received fuel in accordance with regulations.

Petrol stations report fuel shortage

As per the district administration, the city is currently served by 145 petrol stations that offer petrol and diesel to the public.

Due to the influx of vehicles last night, 8 petrol stations reported a petrol shortage, while 5 stations temporarily ran out of diesel.

Officials attributed this shortage to the increased demand during the night.

The administration confirmed that fuel supply remains accessible throughout the city and that substantial reserves are still available at different stations.

The report indicated that petrol stations in Islamabad currently have 2,590,736 litres of petrol stored in their tanks.

Additionally, 1,583,362 litres of diesel are also on hand at various fuel stations.

Petrol pumps inspected and sealed in Islamabad

Officials mentioned that inspection teams visited several petrol pumps in Islamabad after receiving complaints from citizens.

During these inspections, authorities discovered 7 instances where petrol station operators refused to provide fuel to customers.

After inspections, the administration sealed those stations and initiated legal proceedings in accordance with the applicable regulations.

The district administration emphasised that the operation’s objective is to guarantee uninterrupted fuel supply to citizens.

Officials also instructed petrol station operators to maintain open sales and follow government directives.
