Islamabad Police has ended the contracts of 29 employees working in different departments.

The affected employees include former senior police officers, legal staff and employees working in technical positions.

Reportedly, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry approved the decision. A formal notification has also reportedly been issued.

Some former police officers who continued working on contracts after retirement are also among those affected.

Senior officers and IT staff affected

The affected employees include three law officers, four former senior police officers and three former Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).

Employees working on contract in the Information Technology Department have also been affected. These include staff serving in director and software engineering positions.

Since taking office, the IGP Islamabad has been reviewing police operations, security arrangements and administrative matters.

On September 29, he chaired a meeting with senior officers. The meeting reviewed security, operational preparedness and the performance of different police departments.

During the meeting, the IGP directed officials to use police resources more effectively. He also called for better coordination between departments and improved services for citizens.

More changes could follow

The termination of these 29 contracts may not be the last administrative change.

Islamabad Police authorities are reportedly considering further action regarding other employees working on contracts in different departments.

However, it is not yet clear how many more employees could be affected or when another decision could be announced.

The IGP also recently held an Orderly Room for serving and retired police personnel.

During the session, personnel were given an opportunity to raise their official and personal matters directly.

The IGP directed officials to address legitimate departmental issues on merit and according to existing rules.
