In another development, schools in Islamabad will have 3 days off a week. Friday has been added to the weekends.

The notification is dated April 2, 2026. The notification states that under the government’s austerity and fuel conservation measures, all private educational institutions in Islamabad will have classes from Monday to Thursday.
Meaning that the students will have three days off per week. All on-campus activities will be observed in the four-day work week.
On the other hand, the schools in Punjab were opened from April 1. The opening date was announced by the Punjab Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, on X.
Punjab schools will also be on-campus for four days a week and on friday classes and activities will be conducted online.
The Sindh government is also taking important steps to conserve fuel reserves and save energy. The decisions relating to schools will be taken after reviewing the situation.
The work from home policy to save fuel will be adopted every Friday under the austerity measures.
The private sector has also been requested to allow its employees to work from home whenever possible so that fuel consumption is reduced.
The option of smart lockdown is also being considered in Sindh. Meetings are being held daily to review the current situation and make a well-informed decision.
Fuel quota in Sindh has been reduced by 60 per cent.
On the other hand, the Islamic University has announced the resumption of all academic activities from April 6. Midterm examinations at the International Islamic University will commence on April 13.
Friday will also be considered a working day at the International Islamic University.
