ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced updated traffic plan for the upcoming Tri-Nations Cricket Series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The series will continue until 29 November, the ITP urged citizens to plan additional travel time due to team movements between Islamabad and the stadium.

According to APP quoting ITP official over 300 traffic officers have been deployed to manage traffic flow during match days, team departures, and return movements. The advisory will remain in place until 29 November.

According to the plan, traffic on Expressway and Srinagar Highway may experience delays, especially during peak hours. Citizens are advised to add 15–20 minutes of additional time to their travel schedule. Closed roads include Serena Gate, NADRA Gate, and Express Entry Gate.

Drone surveillance and digital monitoring are also being used to track congestion points in real time, enabling quick adjustments in deployment where required.

Alternative Routes

To avoid delays during team movement, ITP has advised motorists to use:

IJP Road

9th Avenue

Margalla Road

Marriott Road

Service roads parallel to Expressway and Srinagar Highway (where applicable)

To reach Club Road, it is advised to take Seventh Avenue or Embassy Road from Srinagar Highway.

Public transport

Public transport may be temporarily diverted during movement, depending on security requirements.

The ITP spokesperson said that the department is utilizing all available resources to ensure minimum inconvenience to commuters. Continuous traffic updates will be provided through Islamabad Police’s official social media platforms and FM 92.4.

Citizens have been requested to follow lane discipline, cooperate with traffic staff, and remain patient during temporary closures.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially announced changes to the schedule of the ongoing ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as the upcoming T20I Tri-Nation Tournament involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.

In an official statement issued today, the PCB confirmed that “the decision to revise the schedule was made in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), following mutual discussions to accommodate operational and match requirements.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board further stated that “the T20I Tri-Nation Tournament shall now completely be played in Rawalpindi, commencing 18 November, with the final scheduled for 29 November 2025.”

Moreover, PCB added that the T20I Tri-Nation Tournament, featuring Pakistan (hosts), Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe, “will serve as an important preparatory platform ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.”

Concluding the statement, the PCB noted that “the updated fixtures for both the ODI series and the T20I Tri-Nation Tournament will be shared shortly on the PCB’s official platforms.”
