ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad traffic police have issued a new traffic plan for specific hours ahead of religious party’s rally in the federal capital.

The traffic police spokesperson shared the latest diversion plan on official social media platforms to provide ease and updates to Islamabad residents.

The traffic plan will remain in effect from 4 January 2026 (today) from 1 PM to 3 PM.

  • Aabpara Chowk Srinagar Highway towards Aabpara Chowk Suhrawardy Road will be completely closed for traffic.
  • Citizens are urged to use the alternative route from Srinagar Highway to Seventh Avenue.
  • Shell Pump towards Aabpara Chowk Suhrawardy Road will be completely closed for traffic.
  • Use Old MNA Hostel Suhrawardy to Srinagar Highway.
  • Melody Chowk towards Aabpara Chowk Suhrawardy Municipal Road will be closed for traffic.
  • Citizens going from Lal Masjid to Aabpara should use Shaheed Millat Road.
  • Chand Tara Seventh Avenue towards Aabpara Chowk Suhrawardy Road will be completely closed for traffic.
  • Citizens should use the alternative Srinagar Highway.

The Islamabad police further stated that officers of Islamabad Traffic Police and the staff will be present on the roads to assist of the citizens during these hours.

Three suspected robbers arrested in Islamabad’s posh area

Earlier, in a separate incident, at least three suspected robbers were arrested during a police encounter in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kohsar, Islamabad.

According to police spokesperson, the detained suspects were involved in several robbery and snatching incidents in the federal capital.

The Islamabad police spokesperson said that the suspects have confessed to carrying out a robbery in the F-7 sector. Three pistols, mobile phones and cash were also recovered from the arrested robbers.

Man shot dead during musical night in Shakarparian

Earlier, in a shocking incident, a man was shot dead, and a cop sustained injuries during a musical night event in Islamabad’s Shakarparian.

As per details, the incident occurred when a man named Samiullah went for the musical night with his friends and the suspects opened fire, killing him on the spot, injuring a police constable, Ghulam Hasnain.

The Islamabad Police have registered an FIR at Aabpara Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s cousin, Imranullah, over the targeted killing of Samiullah during a musical night event at Shakarparian.

According to the FIR, the cousin of the victim has nominated four suspects in the case, including Sadr Islam, Ishaq, Rizwan and Sawar Khan.

The FIR further said that the suspects killed him and severely tortured him.
