The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has issued an alert in view of the rain, strong winds and hail in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

According to the agency, thundershowers are expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the NDMA, rain and hail have been predicted in several cities. These include Murree, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Lahore and Sahiwal.
In addition to this, rain with strong winds has been predicted in Swat, Peshawar, Mansehra, Chitral and Abbottabad.
The NDMA has also warned that the risks of melting glaciers, lake outburst floods (GLOFs) and landslides have increased due to rising temperatures.
According to the agency, there is also a risk of flooding due to heavy rains in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir between May 2 and 5.
The agency has directed people living in low-lying areas to take precautionary measures. It has also advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from floodwaters.
In addition, it has also been urged to move livestock and valuables to safe places.
The NDMA further said that due to rain and wind, visibility may be affected and roads may become slippery. So drivers have been instructed to exercise special caution.
The relevant agencies have also been asked to remain alert and take advance measures to deal with the emergency situation.
