Rain has begun at Rawalpindi and Islamabad which has made the weather pleasant and cooler.
Clouds have been present over the twin cities since last night and intermittent rainfall has further helped in easing the weather conditions.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department heavy rain with thunder and lightning expected to persist at a few places in Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and south-eastern Sindh.
Earlier the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecasted about rain with thunder and lightning to various parts of the country.
According to PMD Islamabad is likely to get more rain with thunder storms, however, hail is also predicted at few locations as well.
There will be records of rainfall at Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Peshawar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber.
Western weather systems have advanced into the extreme parts of the country with rains and snow fall expected from today.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today snow showers are forecasted in upper areas.
Rain and snowfall also have been expected today in Murree and Galiyat. The Met Office said snowfall could result in slippery condition on the roads as well as potential risk of landslide.
Besides, light rain is also forecasted at various locations along the areas of Sindh.
The Meteorological Department further said that likely rain and snowfall with strong winds and thunderstorm is likely to prevail in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
