ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sealed the Islamabad’s iconic Kabul Restaurant for its failure to adhere to the cashless Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs).
Kabul Restaurant, situated in Islamabad’s prime sector F-7, had been operating in the federal capital for past more than 40 years.
Officials said that under the government’s policy, commercial centers and restaurants in Islamabad have been instructed to adopt digital and cashless systems to ensure tax transparency. However, Kabul Restaurant was found violating this directive.
Despite continuous warning, the restaurant administration insisted on cash transaction and refused to adopt the digital system. CDA taking action has sealed the restaurant’s open area.
However after the closure of the restaurant Shaza Fatima, IT Minister, on her ‘X’ account shared a screen shot that the restaurant has adhered to the CDA rules and has adopted the digital system.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) launched a QR code payment system for businesses, restaurants, and commercial areas in Islamabad to encourage a cashless economy.
Authorities added that other restaurants and businesses across Islamabad are also being monitored to ensure full implementation of the government’s drive toward a cashless economy.
The move is aimed at modernising financial transactions, improving transparency, and promoting digital payments across the capital.
