Despite ceasefire, Israel has launched airstrikes.
The military admitted that it has begun a wave of air strikes on southern Gaza as the precarious ceasefire comes under threat.
The army said it is conducting a “massive and extensive wave” of air strikes on dozens of targets.
Israel has accused Palestinians fighters of carrying out attacks on soldiers in Gaza’s south. However, Hamas said communication with its remaining units in Rafah have been cut off for months and “we are not responsible for any incidents occurring in those areas”.
It is pertinent to mention that Israel is pressing Hamas to return the remains of all 28 deceased captives, saying the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt will stay closed “until further notice”.
Israel attacks civilians
According to Palestine, Israel has also attacked a hospital.
The Palestinian Civil Defence agency says at least 40 Palestinians have been killed on Sunday in Israeli attacks on Gaza – including on a school sheltering war-displaced civilians, with women and children among the dead.
In this regard, a Hamas delegation, headed by senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya, has arrived in the Egyptian capital.
The group aims “to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement with mediators, Palestinian factions, and forces”, it said in a statement.
For now, Palestinians fear the war might start again.
Mahmoud Hashim, a father of five from Gaza City, appealed to United States (US) President Donald Trump and other mediators to prevent the ceasefire’s collapse.
