Pakistan, Afghan Taliban Talks Hit Serious Hurdles on Day Three in Istanbul

Pakistan-Afghanistan talks

The third day of negotiations between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban in Istanbul once again faced serious hurdles, as the Taliban delegation remained reluctant to accept Pakistan’s logical and legitimate demands.

According to sources, despite the difficulties, the host nations acknowledged that Pakistan’s stance and demands were both legitimate and rational.

Interestingly, sources revealed that even within the Afghan Taliban delegation, there is a firm realisation that demands put forward by Pakistan are justified and should be accepted in principle.

Pakistan’s legitimate demands to ensure lasting regional peace

However, sources disclosed that the Taliban negotiators are repeatedly seeking guidance from the Kabul administration before taking any position during the negotiation process. A pattern suggesting that the Afghan delegation is being tightly controlled from Kabul.

Throughout the talks, the Pakistani delegation has consistently emphasised that its demands are in the interest of regional peace and stability.

The host countries have also reportedly conveyed to the Taliban side that Pakistan’s position is fair and conducive to long term security cooperation and regional stability.

Despite these efforts, the Kabul administration has so far failed to respond positively, resulting in a stalemate.

Sources believe that certain elements within Kabul may be pursuing a separate agenda, undermining the peace process.

Pakistan’s stance remains firm, logical, and essential for ensuring lasting peace in the region, while the Afghan Taliban’s hesitancy continues to raise concerns about their independence and genuine commitment to peace dialogue.
