The Islamabad Traffic Police have announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan and alternative routes in connection with the arrival of foreign delegations during the United States–Iran ceasefire negotiations scheduled for April 9 to 10.
According to officials, traffic diversions will be implemented at different times across the federal capital to ensure security and smooth movement of diplomatic convoys.
Citizens travelling from Peshawar to Rawalpindi via GT Road have been advised to use Faisal Mor, Chakri, Chak Beli, and Rawat Road as alternate routes. Meanwhile, commuters travelling from Lahore towards Peshawar should use Rawat, Chak Beli, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway.
Motorists travelling from G-5, F-6, and G-6 via Margalla Road towards Rawalpindi are directed to use 9th Avenue. Traffic moving from Faisal Avenue towards Zero Point will also be diverted to 9th Avenue.
Residents travelling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi have been advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road. Similarly, commuters entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi should use 9th Avenue via Saddar Road.
Authorities further announced that the Expressway from Zero Point through Faisal Avenue to Koral Chowk will remain closed for traffic during the specified period. Drivers coming from Colonel Sher Khan Road towards Faisal Avenue should use Stadium Road via the 9th Avenue signal.
For intercity travel, vehicles moving from Peshawar to Lahore are advised to use the Taxila Motorway and Fateh Jang Motorway via Tarnol Phatak. Heavy traffic travelling from Lahore on GT Road towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be diverted to Chak Beli Road and Chakri Motorway.
Officials added that entry of all kinds of heavy traffic into Islamabad will remain completely banned from April 9 to 10. Additionally, all routes leading to the Red Zone will remain fully closed for every type of traffic during the visit.
The traffic police have urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Security at Serena Chowk, Islamabad, along the Srinagar Highway, has been significantly increased ahead of peace talks in the capital. Containers have been positioned to block key routes, while personnel closely monitor movement.

With a two-day local holiday announced, followed by the peace talks being held in Islamabad, traffic volume is lower than usual, but access remains limited, with only selected routes open.
This area, which normally sees constant flow of vehicles, is now operating under strict checks and controlled entry.
For now, Serena Chowk remains under tight security, with movement closely monitored as Islamabad stays on high alert.
