Jack Black The Incredibles

WEBDESK: Jack Black, the Kung Fu Panda star has revealed that the biggest “what if” of his career was walking away from Pixar’s The Incredibles. He revealed that he turned down the chance to play the film’s villain. Black instantly regretted not doing it once the movie hit the screens.

Jack was speaking during an interview with Capital FM, the actor and comedian reflected on why he said no and that he still questions this decision till today.

Black was offered the role of Syndrome. He was the ambitious antagonist who became one of Pixar’s most memorable villains.

Black rejected the project due to being unfamiliar with the director Brad Bird, and he was unsure about the project.

Black further said that Incredibles is a fantastic movie, one of his favourite movies of all time, and not doing it will always be his regret.

The reason why he hesitated to star in the movie was creative doubts and a lack of faith in the director. According to Black, he had never heard of Brad Bird and did not want to risk it. Secondly, he also thought the character offered to him lacked depth.

Black also admitted that he asked for changes back when he was offered the movie. He thought the character he was being offered was a very one-dimensional villain, and he wanted the character to be rewritten.

However, when the film was finally released, Black realised how wrong he was.

Despite Black’s regret, all was not lost as he went on and built a successful voice acting career of his own. He found a global audience as Po in Kung Fu Panda and Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

He will be returning as Bowser once again in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It will be released on April 3.
