Jaecoo has officially announced the prices of its newly launched hybrid SUV, the J5, ending weeks of speculation in the Pakistani auto market.
The pricing has surprised many buyers, with industry observers noting that the J5 now sits in a range traditionally dominated by popular sedans. Due to its hybrid technology and better fuel efficiency, the SUV is already being seen as a potential alternative to petrol-powered cars such as the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Toyota Yaris and Honda City.
Bookings for the Jaecoo J5 are now open with a partial payment of Rs1.5 million. Deliveries are expected to begin from next month, according to company sources.
Jaecoo J5 price in Pakistan
The J5 Comfort variant has been priced at around Rs6.7 million, while the J5 Premium variant costs Rs7.7 million. Both prices are inclusive of taxes. Despite the difference in pricing, both variants share the same hybrid powertrain and engine, delivering identical performance and output.
Market watchers believe the J5 could directly impact sales of Toyota’s Corolla Altis lineup. The Corolla Altis 1.6 CVT is priced at Rs6.7 million, the Special Edition costs Rs7.34 million, while the Altis Grande 1.8 CVT is priced at Rs7.709 million.
The Jaecoo J5 is also priced lower than the base Honda HR-V VTi, which costs Rs7.55 million and runs on petrol only.
Fuel efficiency is another factor drawing attention. Recent reports suggest the J5 can deliver up to 18 kilometres per litre, a figure that is higher than many sedans currently available in the market.
Interest in the SUV grew further after images of locally assembled Jaecoo J5 units began circulating online. Many buyers have praised its modern exterior design and premium interior, noting that few vehicles in this price range offer similar styling and features.
Jaecoo J5’s key features
The Jaecoo J5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in 7.9 seconds and is equipped with a 1.83 kWh hybrid battery. The company claims a fuel economy of up to 18.8 km per litre.
