The hype about two of the most anticipated of recent new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs in the local auto market is quickly turning into frustration for the buyers.
Based on the market research both Deepal and Jaecoo are currently struggling with delivering their significantly demanded models, the Deepal S05 and the Jaecoo J7.
Customers who reserved these vehicles in November based on the official estimated delivery times (ETAs) which promised delivery in December are still waiting for their cars to be delivered.
Now as March starts, most of those early buyers still do not have their vehicles, which has resulted in an increasing dissatisfaction among customers.
Complaints have become more frequent on social media automotive communities, where buyers freely air their frustration with the never-ending delays.
Reports have indicated that delay in the case of the Jaecoo J7 is related to internal problems in production.
According to information that has been shared with customers by dealership showrooms, the company has temporarily stopped producing the Jaecoo J7 because of diverting resources to the forthcoming Jaecoo J5.
Buyers of Deepal S05 are experiencing the same set of problems where the delivery timelines are longer than the dates originally agreed at the time of booking.
Earlier, Jaecoo had another problem with the J7 when it to conduct a safety recall in Australia due to a possible manufacturing defect.
The recall involved 1,028 units of the 2025 Jaecoo J7 and was applied specifically to the 1.6 litre turbocharged E85 petrol variant (sold in the Australian market).
Authorities were concerned that the fault caused the unexpected shutdown of engines in the middle of driving.
According to the official recall notice filed with the Australian Department of Infrastructure, the problem was associated with the vehicle’s wiring system.
