Several media reports confirmed that a broadcast journalist and anchorperson, Jameel Farooqui, faced a murderous attack in Sargodha. Jameel Farooqui is a well-known investigative journalist and anchorperson.
Jameel Farooqui is based in Islamabad. According to the initial reports, a person with a criminal record named “Tariq Masood”, along with other unknown people, attacked Jameel Farooqui in Sargodha.
Assassination attempt on Jameel Farooqui
Jameel Farooqui’s team posted on his X account that Tariq Masood, with a few other unknown people, attacked Jameel Farooqui with rods and hit him on his head using a Kalashnikov butt. Jameel Farooqui’s team also wrote on X that the journalist’s condition is critical.

It is pertinent to mention that Sargodha police or the district administration has not issued any public statement regarding the incident. The journalist community in Sargodha and Islamabad condemned the attack on Jameel Farooqui and raised questions about the safety of journalists.
Fake reports on Jameel Farooqui are also being spread by so-called PTI activists. One of the female PTI activists, Sehrish Maan, claimed that journalist Jameel Farooqui has not faced any murderous attack. It is pertinent to mention that Sehrish Maan’s X account is being used for spreading propaganda against Pakistan on the direction of PTI senior leaders.
Attack on another journalist
Earlier, the journalist Tayyab Baloch faced an attack by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) mob when Baloch was performing his journalistic responsibilities near Adiala jail.
According to multiple video clips circulating on social media, the incident happened when Aleema Khan began speaking to reporters.
In one clip, PTI lawyer Naeem Haider Panjotha tells journalist Tayyab, “Do not talk,” and urges him not to interrupt the media briefing.
