Jazz subscribers report unauthorised balance deduction, critics question PTA

Jazz unauthorised balance deduction

Jazz network subscribers have reported that their balance is being deducted repeatedly through unauthorised subscriptions. Mobile phone users across Pakistan are reporting a rise in unauthorised service subscriptions, leading to unexpected losses from prepaid balances. Many say they were signed up for paid services without consent, multiple times, causing frustration and financial inconvenience.

Criticism of Jazz

An X user criticised the Jazz network and said in his tweet that, “I thought it might be a Zong network issue, so I bought a Jazz SIM three months ago. Jazz Cellular offers few services and operates more like a thief than a silver company. Even with two SIMs, making phone calls or using data has become a constant pain.”

He added, “As for PTA, every regulatory authority in this country seems to be protecting the interests of mafias. The best example is the fine of Rs25 million imposed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) a few months ago for overbilling of Rs47 billion by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). Instead of returning Rs47 billion to the consumers, every regulator is busy with such incidents.”

Critics over PTA

One of the X users, Umar Daraz Gondal, said in his tweet that, “At this time, telecommunication companies are looting the user, and no one is there to question. There is no schedule of loadshedding in any area, as electricity is turned off, the phone network signals will continue to go, and even attending phone calls will become a torment for you.”

He further said, “In our country, WhatsApp calls and phone data are currently a separate challenge. The internet is already in shambles. When will companies increase the prices of mobile packages? No one asks questions. I wonder if the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) can be questioned, or is it also on the red line?”

The issue has become a growing concern for prepaid mobile customers, who rely on their balances for calls, data, and messaging. The unchecked deductions not only affect individual finances but also undermine consumer trust in mobile service providers.
