ISLAMABAD: Europe has opened its doors for Pakistanis, creating thousands of job opportunities for skilled workers. This is seen as a major step forward for Pakistani laborers.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development said Italy has allocated a total quota of 10,500 jobs for Pakistani workers.
Italy has allotted this quota for the next three years. Under this plan, 3,500 Pakistanis will go to Italy for employment each year, including 1,500 seasonal and 2,000 non-seasonal workers annually.
The quota was allocated at the special request of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
According to the spokesperson, Pakistan has been given jobs in shipbreaking, hospitality, healthcare, and agriculture, where skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers will serve.
Opportunities in Italy include welders, technicians, chefs, waiters, housekeeping, nursing, medical technicians, farming, and cultivation.
Italy is the first European country to formally allocate a job quota for Pakistan, marking a significant development.
Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the second meeting of the Pakistan-Italy Joint Working Group will be held in Islamabad in February 2026.
He described Italy’s quota allocation as a milestone, saying doors of employment are finally opening for the Pakistani workforce after long efforts.
He added that this development is a key step for Pakistan to access the European labor market.
The government is committed to providing dignified global employment for its workers.
Overseas Pakistanis continue to play a backbone role in the country’s economy, and more European countries are expected to open up for Pakistani workers soon, he said.
