The families have forgiven the judge’s son, who was involved in a road accident that killed their daughters, after he was sent to physical remand.
According to the reports, the family directly told the court that they forgave him, and after that, the court ordered his release.
One of the girls’ father talked to the media and said that the father of the son, who is an Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, personally visited the families and admitted that the mistake was his child’s. The judge expressed his condolences, saying he had no words and came to share in their grief.
The two young girls lost their lives earlier this week when they were on the road on their scooty and were hit by Justice Mohammed Asif’s son, Abuzar, near the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad, where the girls used to work.
The judge’s son reportedly did not have a valid driver’s license, and the man fled the area immediately after the collision.
The girls passed away on the spot.
Last year, a court in Karachi granted bail to Natasha Danish and her husband on manslaughter charges after the counsel to the victims’ family said that they had pardoned them and removed their objections.
A speeding Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by Natasha, hit three motorcycles and another car before overturning in Karachi.
60-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter Amna were killed in the accident, while others were wounded.
At the time, the lawyer of the family denied that diyat (blood money) was paid to the family, saying that the suspect was pardoned “in the name of Allah”.
“They (the family) are saying that they have forgiven because those who forgive have the highest stature,” he added.
Meanwhile, defence counsel Qureshi said he was “not aware” of any compensation provided to the victims’ family.
He said that the courts had not placed any travel restrictions on Natasha and that his client was free to leave the country if she wanted.
